Cockatiels live 15–25 years with good care. That makes a cockatiel a long-term commitment, so plan for who will look after your bird for its whole life.

Yes. Cockatiels are one of the easier parrots to start with, especially hand-raised ones that are already tame. Sweet, easy-going and a great whistler. One of the best first birds you can get.
